Kalaburagi (Karnataka) [India], July 5 (ANI): Karnataka Additional Director General of Police (Traffic and Road Safety) Alok Kumar said on Friday that it is well prepared to implement the three new criminal laws, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).
“New criminal laws have come into effect from July 1. But Karnataka state is well prepared to implement the laws. All our men and officers, including armed reserve and special units, have been trained in new criminal laws,” Karnataka, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic and Road Safety), Alok Kumar, told ANI.
He said that technological infrastructure, like integration with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) or the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), has also been completed for this purpose.
“…We are in a ready position. As per the new criminal laws, forensic tools should be used in cases where punishment provision is more than seven years,” Kumar said.
He also said that the police have launched a drive against dazzling or glaring LED headlights in vehicles starting July 1, adding that police have booked more than 3700 cases under the Indian Motor Vehicle Act in the last three days.
“As per central motor vehicle rules, vehicles that use LED lights should not be glaring or dazzling. If they are using LED headlights that are dazzling or glaring, it is inconvenient for other commuters. We are taking action under 177 of the Indian Motor Vehicle Act…,” Kumar said,
“In the last three days, we have booked more than 3700 cases…,” Kumar said.
He also attributed the increase in fatalities due to road accidents across the country to a corresponding increase in the number of vehicles and population.
“The number of vehicles and population are increasing every day. So naturally everywhere in the country, the number of accidents like road accidents and deaths is increasing…”,” Kumar added. (ANI)
