New Delhi [India], August 6 (ANI): The Crime Branch of Delhi police has arrested a 39-year-old life convict and parole jumper from Kolkata in a kidnapping and ransom case of a four-year-old, Delhi police crime branch officials stated on Tuesday.
39-year-old Tobir Ahmed alias Tabir is a resident of Bihar against whom the case was registered in the police station Nabi Karim in the national capital in 2008. He was convicted of rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine in the above-mentioned case and was released on emergency parole. The date of surrender was fixed for April 7, 2024, but the convict did not surrender after the expiry of his parole.
A piece of secret information was received regarding the parole jumper stating that the accused has been living in the area of Pragati Maidan, Kolkata, West Bengal and has been changing his location frequently. The same was verified from Tihar Jail, the statement added.
Surveillance was mounted to trace the movement of the accused. Accordingly, a team was sent to Kolkata and after a relentless pursuit based on secret information, the team arrested Tobir Ahmed, statement from Delhi police crime branch officials further noted.
More updates on the matter are awaited. (ANI)
