New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Delhi Police have arrested one person and apprehended three in connection with a firing incident in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi.
The arrested person has been identified as Abhishek Taneja, alias Piddi. One pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession, the police said.
According to the police, Lajpat Nagar Police Station received a PCR call, informing them that 4-5 people had assaulted and opened fire on a person.
Local police immediately reached the spot and found that Abhishek Sagar, alias Katiya, was injured. He had been assaulted with sticks and one round was fired at his leg. The injured had been taken to the hospital following injuries by his friends, the police said.
Following initial inquiries, analysis of CCTV footage in the area and thorough examination of the scene of the crime, the sequence of events was determined and the accused were identified, the police said.
Immediately, the police swung into action and several teams were formed to nab the culprits. The teams raided several places in a short span of time and it was learned that the suspects were not at their possible hideouts.
Thereafter, technical and manual surveillance were mounted and information was gathered through local intelligence. The relentless and sustained efforts bore fruit and Abhishek Taneja, alias Piddi, was arrested in the Ashram area of Delhi.
One pistol and 2 live cartridges were recovered from his possession. Three CCLs (Child in Conflict with Law) who were involved in beating the victim with sticks were also apprehended.
According to the police, Piddi is an associate of Rohit Chaudhary and earlier they were associates of Subegh Singh, alias Shibu.
Later on, due to some personal disputes, they fell apart and rivalry started between them. In the year 2023, Subegh Singh, alias Shibu, and his associates attacked Rohit Chaudhary and Piddi but they managed to escape the attack.
In this incident, 9 people were arrested, including the injured Abhishek, alias Katiya.
Abhishek, alias Katiya, has become a major figure recently and as a juvenile, he was involved in several heinous cases.
Piddi, along with other associates, attacked Abhishek Sagar, alias Katiya, to take revenge for his previous attack on him. Further investigation in this case is underway and other associates of the accused are being pursued, the police said. (ANI)
