Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 23 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday that Union Budget 2024 stands out for its unprecedented push towards employment generation and powering small businesses.
“Schemes such as PM’s Package for Employment & Skilling, 1 crore paid internship opportunities and employment-linked incentives will be game changers. My compliments to Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her team for presenting a budget that lays down a solid road map to maintain India’s growth momentum and seeks to propel our economy to the world’s third largest, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” CM Himanta wrote on X.
He expressed his gratitude for the special assistance allocated to Assam for flood mitigation efforts under the Union Budget 2024.
“Assam will receive special assistance under this Budget to help meet the challenges posed by floods. The excellent reforms announced for land registration will complement our ongoing efforts like Mission Basundhara 3.0,” the Assam Chief Minister said.
He further said, “Enhanced allocation under PM Awas Yojana and schemes such PM Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan which seeks to achieve saturation of schemes in all tribal majority villages, will also have a net positive impact in Assam. Union Budget 2024 infrastructure push via Rs 1.5 lakh crore to states, focus on improving agricultural productivity, green energy initiatives and generous allocation for rural development will also have a multiplier effect on Assam’s growth.”
The Assam CM also pointed out that the Union Budget 2024 has several progressive measures such as the review of the IT Act, withdrawal of Angel Tax, reducing the fiscal deficit, sustaining capex and several other measures that will ensure India remains the fastest growing economy for years to come.
“I am delighted to learn that Union Budget 2024 has made a provision to implement the Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana. With an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore, this scheme will provide several welfare opportunities for Assam’s tea garden community. My gratitude to the Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for this unique scheme that will greatly benefit our brothers and sisters, who form the backbone of Assam’s tea industry.”
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her record seventh consecutive Union Budget 2024-25 today (on July 23) during the Budget Session of Parliament. She made history as the first finance minister to present seven consecutive budget speeches, surpassing former Prime Minister Morarji Desai’s record of six consecutive budgets as finance minister between 1959 and 1964.
FM Sitharaman, in her seventh consecutive Union Budget for 2024-25, outlined key priorities aimed at fostering economic growth and creating ample opportunities. The priorities include Productivity and Resilience in Agriculture, Employment and Skilling and services. (ANI)
