New Delhi [India], August 9 (ANI): Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, Sunil Ambekar on Friday stated that the RSS condemned the recent violence against minority communities, including Hindus and Buddhists in Bangladesh.
Additionally, the RSS is calling on the global community, India’s political parties, and the Government of India to support the affected communities and ensure their security.
“RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale has issued a statement over the events currently happening in Bangladesh. In his statement, he says – RSS expresses serious concerns over the incidents of violence on Hindus, Buddhists and other minority communities there during the movement for change in power over the past few days,” Ambekar said.
He further stated that the violence has included targeted killings, looting, arson, and attacks on temples and religious places.
“In his statement, he (Hosabale) also said that targeted killing, loot, arson, heinous crimes against women of Hindu and other minority communities, and attacks on temples and religious places can’t be tolerated. He (Hosabale) has also said that RSS strongly condemns it. He (Hosabale) further says that it is expected of the Interim Government of Bangladesh they strictly put an end to such incidents and make all arrangements to protect the lives, properties, and honor of victims. He has appealed to the global community and India’s political parties to stand united with the Hindus, Buddhists, and other communities that are victims of harassment,” he added.
The RSS urged the interim government of Bangladesh to take action to stop the violence and protect the victims.
“He (Hosabale) has also appealed to the Government of India that RSS urges it to try and take up an appropriate role as a friendly neighbouring country of Bangladesh and make all possible efforts to ensure the security of Hindus, Buddhists and others,” he said.
“As a friendly neighbour, the Government of India is trying to play an able role in this situation in Bangladesh. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh urges the Government to make every effort to ensure the safety of Hindus, Buddhists, etc. in Bangladesh,” the statement read
“We request the world community and all political parties in India to stand in solidarity with the persecuted communities like Hindu, Buddhist, etc., in this critical time,” it added.
Bangladesh is facing a fluid political situation with Sheikh Hasina, tendering her resignation from her post on August 5 in the wake of mounting protests. The protests, led majorly by students demanding an end to a quota system for government jobs, took the shape of anti-government protests.
Yunus was sworn in as the head of Bangladesh’s interim government on August 8 night, three days after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the position of Prime Minister and left the country amid widespread unrest. (ANI)
