New Delhi [India], April 2 (ANI): Taking a jibe on AAP leader Atishi’s allegation that she was approached by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to join them or else she’d be arrested by the Enforcement Directorate, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that the “thieves have been exposed.”
“People of Delhi are understanding it very well, there is a saying in English that thieves has been exposed,” Tiwari told ANI.
Speaking on Kejriwal’s naming of Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj before the ED, the BJP leader said, “Their CM, Arvind Kejriwal, said Vijay Nair used to report to Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj. Nair, who is a key factor in the liquor scam, used to report to them. If the kingpin of this entire scam is saying that these people are involved, they should be interrogated. The BJP has zero tolerance for corruption. PM Narendra Modi’s stand is to remove corruption.”
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh dismissed Atishi’s claims and claimed that an internal tussle is going on in AAP and the fight for the Chief Minister’s post.
Hitting out at Atishi, Chugh said, “You cannot deny the truth by making false and serious allegations. First, they said that Operation Lotus is being run in Delhi and then they said Punjab. I don’t know how much they will lie to save their leaders involved in the liquor policy scam. If there was a record of telling lies, then AAP must have made it.”
Hinting at a power struggle in the AAP, the BJP leader said, “At one side, Arvind Kejriwal is taking the name of Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj to save him. On the other side, Atishi is lying to save herself. Keep your internal battles within your party, don’t blame others without any reason.”
Meanwhile, Atishi on Tuesday alleged that she was approached by the Bharatiya Janata Party to join them or else she’d be arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the coming days.
While addressing a press conference here, the AAP leader said, “The BJP, through one of my close aides, approached me to join their party to save my political career, and if I do not join the BJP, then in the coming month, I will be arrested by the ED.”
When asked about the ED’s statement mentioning her and Saurabh Bharadwaj’s names in court, the AAP leader said, “The ED took Saurabh Bharadwaj and my name in court, on the basis of a statement that is available with the ED and CBI for one and a half years; this statement is in the charge sheet of the ED. This statement is also in the charge sheets of CBI, so what was the reason for raising this statement? The reason for raising this statement was that now the BJP feels that despite Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Satyendra Jain being in jail, the Aam Aadmi Party is still united and strong. Now they are planning to put the next line of leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party in jail.”
The Rouse Avenue Court on Monday sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15 in an alleged money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy case. (ANI)
