New Delhi [India], August 29 (ANI): In a response to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s “If you burn Bengal, Assam, North-East, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi too shall burn!” remarks, Congress leader Pawan Khera on Thursday said that the entire country is outraged with whatever is happening in the country whether it is Maharashtra or Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh Bengal or Assam.
Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Pawan Khera said, “The entire country is outraged with what is happening to the women in our country, whether it is happening in Maharashtra or Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh Bengal or Assam. Wherever it is happening, this is one country. These women are from our own family, so we need to be concerned and outraged.”
Asserting that the President of India, Draupadi Murmu should intervene and talk about all ghastly incidents that occurred in Farrukhabad, Badlapur, Ratnagiri, Pune, Kolhapur or Jodhpur, Khera said, “We are very happy to see that the President has also intervened. It’s important for women’s safety that all of us talk about it and repeatedly keep talking about it. Having said that, the President should also ensure that she talks not just about one incident, she talks about other incidents also and gets equally outraged about Farrukhabad where 2 Dalit girls were found hanging on the day of Janmashtami, she should talk about Maharashtra where every day you are hearing reports – whether it’s Badlapur or Ratnagiri or Pune or Kolhapur. All these incidents have also shaken the country; Jodhpur yesterday. So, the President should ideally intervene and talk about all these ghastly incidents.”
Congress leader Pramod Tiwari also reacted to CM Mamata’s remarks and said that he doesn’t know in what context she gave those remarks. He asserted that now it’s the CBI and the government of India who must answer in the matter.
“I don’t know in what context she said that; only she or her party can answer that. Maybe she wanted to say that the manner in which things are happening, neighbouring states can be affected…But I would like to say that what happened with the doctor in Kolkata, is like that of the Nirbhaya incident. Now, the answerability is that of CBI because CBI is probing the matter now. Now, the answerability is that of the Government of India. Strictest action should be taken against the accused who has been nabbed. Others who are involved should not be spared either,” Pramod Tiwari said.

The West Bengal Chief Minister on Wednesday condemned BJP’s 12-hour ‘Bengal Bandh’ and called it an attempt to “defame” Bengal.
Addressing a Trinamool ‘Chhatra Parishad’ foundation day programme in Kolkata yesterday, in response to BJP’s 12-hour long ‘Bengal Bandh’ call, the Chief Minister had alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is using his party to cause a fire in Bengal over the Kolkata woman doctor rape and murder incident.”Some people think this is Bangladesh. I love Bangladesh; they speak like us and share our culture. But remember, Bangladesh is a separate country, and India is a separate country. Modi Babu is using his party to cause fire here. If you burn Bengal, Assam, North-East, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi too shall burn! We will topple your chair,” Mamata Banerjee said.
The remarks from the West Bengal Chief Minister ignited criticism from the BJP. (ANI)
