Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], August 24 (ANI): The government will be able to free the country from Naxalism by March 2026, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Saturday.
Shah was taking part in an inter-state coordination meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Secretaries and Director Generals of Police of Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states over the left-wing extremism in the area.
Union Home Minister assessed both the measures taken against Naxal insurgency and the advancement of infrastructure projects in regions known as Red corridors within nine states troubled by Left Wing Extremism (LWE).
“100pc saturation of Central govt and Chhattisgarh govt’s schemes in the naxal affected areas, the progress of infrastructure projects in such areas and to remove the challenges faced during such projects, this meeting was for that. Time has come to carry out the final assault along with ruthless politics to tackle leftism and naxalism”, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah said.
He stated that the government will be able to free the country from Naxalism by March 2026.
“In the first 10 years, 6617 security personnel and citizens were killed and now there has been a 70% reduction. Similarly, we have witnessed a 69 per cent reduction in the deaths of citizens. I believe that our fight has reached the end phase and by March 2026, we will be able to free the country completely from naxalism,” Shah added.
He further added, “We were successful in generating faith in development against the ideology of left-wing extremism among people. We worked for two purposes, one to establish the rule of law and develop the region”.
The meeting witnessed the participation of chief secretaries and director generals of police from neighbouring states including police chiefs of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana and West Bengal–the states where Naxalism has been constricted, as per the latest data collated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
On August 25, the Home Minister will inaugurate the Raipur Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office following a review meeting in the morning.
Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh starting on Friday, August 23.
Earlier today, Home Minister Amit Shah visited Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ashram in Raipur Chhattisgarh.
Shah was accompanied by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy CM Vijay Sharma.
Taking on to the social media platform X he said “Today I had the good fortune of visiting the birthplace of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya in Champaran (Chhattisgarh). Vallabhacharya Ji, a dedicated devotee of Lord Shri Krishna, worked to connect people with Krishna devotion. He presented a unique interpretation of the Indian devotional tradition through Shuddhadvait philosophy and gave a new consciousness to Vaishnava devotion by establishing the Pushti sect”.
“By coming to this holy place, one gets a unique experience of the devotion and thoughts of revered Vallabhacharya ji” he added in his post. (ANI)
