New Delhi [India], May 13 (ANI): Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first address to the nation after Operation Sindoor, spoke about a new India and its doctrine, declaring that the country will see an act of terror as an act of war.
“Pakistan is a mad animal, and they wanted treatment. That treatment was what the Indian Armed Forces gave to them,” Chandrasekhar told ANI.
“Yesterday, the PM spoke about the new India and its doctrine. From now on wards India will see an act of terror as an act of war…India believes in peace and good deeds, but it can use force against evil deeds,” he added.
When asked about Congress’s demand for a special Parliament session to discuss the Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack, he alleged that the party has an illustrious and dubious track record.
“Congress has an illustrious and dubious track record. Every time there is a terror attack, they will create an issue around it…people are not going to pay too much attention to what Congress says about the last few days since April 22 (Pahalgam attack) …regarding the special Parliament session demand, I have only one thing to say, when Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi don’t sessions that are held regularly, what are the odds that they will attend special session?” he said.
When asked about Congress leaders comparing former PM Indira Gandhi’s leadership in the 1971 to that of PM Modi’s in the current conflict with Pakistan, he said, ” I find it very fascinating that the Congress has to grab on to Indira Gandhi and historical figures…why don’t they tell us about what they are doing today, why are they not talking about their contributions to country today…what they are doing today is running the Himachal Pradesh govt to the ground, creating no development for Karnataka.”
In his address on Monday, PM Modi said that talks with Pakistan would only take place on the issues of terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He also chose to sidestep US President Donald Trump’s statement that his administration had helped halt the conflict.
The Prime Minister said the cessation of hostilities at the moment between India and Pakistan should be seen only as a pause and that Pakistan’s actions in the next few days will be evaluated for any further action.
Pakistan, seeing the destruction of terror camps and India’s ability to take the operations to their logical end, begged for a cessation of hostilities and approached India for it, giving assurances that they would act on terror and desist from attacks, the prime minister said.
The cessation of hostilities, announced on May 10, came after India’s decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
